1, 2, 3…Paint!
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Nicosia's A. G. Leventis Gallery collaborated with appios® creative studio to create a unique identity for a temporary art exhibition. This exciting initiative aimed to showcase the gallery's esteemed collection by offering the public a rare opportunity to interact and re-interpret paintings from its permanent collections in a unique and participatory way.
Challenging visitors to become part of the artistic process, inspiring creativity, and breathing new life into the artworks, the title ‘1, 2, 3…Paint!’ was chosen to evoke anticipation, emphasizing the playful nature of the exhibition. The appios® team carefully selected four iconic paintings from each of the gallery's collections, and visitors were provided with vibrant paint and invited to reimagine these works using the Paint-by-Numbers technique. This interactive element allowed attendees to engage directly with the art, fostering a deeper connection and understanding of the pieces.

Publication
To commemorate the interactive ‘1, 2, 3…Paint!’ anniversary exhibition at A. G. Leventis Gallery, appios® designed an eye-catching complementary publication. The goal was to create a tangible record of the experience, allowing visitors to take a piece of the exhibition home and cherish their artistic contributions while reflecting on the exhibition’s playful spirit.
The title itself, boldly displayed on the publication cover, invites readers to explore pages bursting with vibrant colours and engaging content, mirroring the lively and creative atmosphere of the exhibition. It includes a short description of the selected works from the Leventis Gallery collections, offering context and insight into the pieces. Quotes from famous pioneering painters are interspersed throughout the catalogue, adding depth and inspiration.
“A modern organic font was chosen for the main texts, providing a clean and contemporary look. Handwritten and abstract fonts were used for titles and quotes, adding a personal and artistic touch. The mat paper indirectly references drawing paper and enhances the tactile experience for the reader.”
“The last pages of the publication feature the illustrations of the works that have been created especially for the exhibition so that the interaction continues well after the end of the event.”
