University of Nicosia

The University of Nicosia, also known as UNIC, is the largest University in Cyprus, gathering almost 11.000 students from more than 70 countries on an innovative learning space. When UNIC decided that the time for refreshing its imaged had come, it reached out to appios® team to create a new brand/corporate identity worthy of the University’s reputation and dynamic presence.

In rebranding the University of Nicosia, we were essentially building the image and identity of our nation’s education. The level of detail and depth to this project was more complex than a simple rebrand due to the unique nature of the client. 

 
 

The Process

In the case of UNIC, our team had to create something new, fresh and modern without relinquishing the heritage, tradition and history of the university. We started by combining the letter “U” and the letter “N”, creating an acronym for the University of Nicosia. While maintaining the University’s existing colors, we chose to make them more vibrant and brighter, trying to appeal and connect to a younger demographic. Additionally, we designed a series of monochromatic logos to extend the range of the brand’s applicability. 

 
 
The result is a brand that can be translated, live and breathe in different ecosystems throughout the physical and digital campus of UNIC.

From the University’s signage, creative flags, and banners to pillars and the unique triangle pattern, to the accommodation and the brochures, the identity functions as both diverse and consistent.
